New Project - NARCOMAP06.02.2017
The implementation of the NARCOMAP project has begun. The Project is coordinated by RiSSC (IT), and developed in cooperation with Risk Monitor (BG), Vilnius Institute for Advanced Studies (LT) and the Academy for Criminalistic and Police Studies (RS).
The project focuses in specific on Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and opiates illicit criminal markets (with particular regards to supply chain, trafficking routes from and to Europe, and related polycriminal activities) because the boundary between the market categories of ‘old’ and new drugs is becoming harder to define, and important interdependecies between these two groups of substances are emerging. However, little knowledge is yet available.
The overall objective is to contribute at improving knowledge and expertise in the area of Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and opiates illicit criminal markets (with specific regards to supply chain, trafficking routes from and to Europe, and related polycriminal activities), in particular by defragmenting relevant information/intelligence and implementing innovative methods and technological tools to further collect, systemise, analyse and exploit them, with the intent also to improve detection, monitoring, investigative and prosecution capacities, and to facilitate cooperation/exchange of best practices among LEAs/relevant stakeholders.
