The largest international police organization, founded in 1923. Its members are 188 countries around the world. The organization is structured by the General Assembly and Executive Committee, General Secretariat, National Central Bureaus and the Commission for Control of Interpol Files.The General Secretariat is based in Lyon, France.

The functions of Interpol generally refer to the coordination of police cooperation and support for institutions engaged in combating transnational crime. The Specific tasks are grouped around servicing the global communication system, police training, operational information services (databases) and operational police support facilitated by the command center, which is on constant 24-hour duty.
