Conference “Crime, Risks, Institutions: The Long-term Perspectives”

RiskMonitor’s annual conference “Crime, Risks, Institutions: The long-term perspectives” took place on October 21st. The main topics discussed by the participants were related to the national security risks for Bulgaria in the future 10-15 years, the ongoing reform in the Bulgarian security sector and the possibilities to exercise public control over its institutions. Lecturers paid special attention to the long-term perspectives and reforms in the judiciary, the crisis of the European Union and the possible implications for Bulgaria. A panel was dedicated to the dynamics of the organized crime in the country and the need to change public policies, aimed to tackle it. RiskMonitor’s conference was attended by members of parliament, various NGO experts, and representatives of key Bulgarian media. The event was carried out in the frame of projects funded by the Think Tank Fund and the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe.
