Stefan Popov’s article comes in response to the proposal of Luben Kornezov, an MP from Coalition for Bulgaria, for the legalization of euthanasia. Certainly, euthanasia is a sensitive issue that needs careful discussion, apart from the regulatory interference in matters associated with life and death. Popov argues that legislative solutions should not to precede a long debate, including the issue of complex medical practices. In his opinion, for people in Bulgaria this topic is still uncharted territory; in this sense the idea of a referendum is not justified.
