The Way Out as a Process

Stefan Popov’s analysis focuses on several key aspects of the political crisis that has engulfed the country in the past couple of months:

  • Protests have become a regular part of everyday life; they are not a one-off event which is going to die away any time soon;
  • The citizens refuse to identify with any of the political parties as their representatives;
  • The current parliament lacks any capacity whatsoever to deal with the big challenge confronting the country, i.e. the criminalization of the state, simply because it is part of it.

The future holds open many possibilities; we may have reason to be optimisticbecause a lasting political crisis is not necessarily a black void, rather it is an opportunity to change a political system that has been long taken hostage by the criminal groups of the Transition.
