Civil Forfeiture - Back on the Agenda

The parliament will discuss again the Law on civil forfeiture in the end of January. The draft "Popova" proposal enters the schedule of the new minister Diana Kovacheva. The revised version will probably change some controversial texts. Only data on criminal activity will ground launching a procedure for forfeiture. The media suggest more improvements: the investigations will trace the money back in time for shorter periods (in the previous version it was 25 years), the threshold of the property, subject to verification will be lifted to 250 000 BGN. The expectations on the extent of the expected changes are controversial:
