Galevi "Brothers" Sentenced

Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov, the notorious bosses of Dupnitsa, who were acquitted by the Kyustendil District Court received convictions on the second instance of their trial. The Sofia Court of Appeals acknowledged Plamen Galev guilty in the leadership of an organized criminal group and extortion and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment, fines and confiscation. The other main culprit Angel Hristov was convicted of extortion for five years in prison, fines and confiscation.
The rest of the group - Vladimir Angelov, Apostol Chakalov, Georgi Gradevski and Georgi Blatski received shorter terms for participation in organized criminal group and bodily injury.
The verdict can be appealed within 15 days before the Supreme Court.
The names of key figures in this case became widely known after the information about their secret meeting with the former Interior Minister Rumen Petkov, leaked to the media.
