RiskMonitor Launched the Project “Rule of Law and Organized Crime”

 RiskMonitor Foundation organized a press conference yesterday in the building of the Specialized Prosecution, to mark the beginning of the project “Rule of Law and Organized Crime,” designed to train the Bulgarian prosecutors from the Specialized Appellate Prosecution and the First Instance Specialized Prosecution. The project is funded by the America for Bulgaria Foundation.  Under the project, a series of training seminars will be conducted from March 2012 through May 2013, with the participation of Bulgarian and international lecturers. The conference was attended by Diana Kovacheva, Minister of Justice. In her address, she congratulated RiskMonitor for initiating and implementing this project, which will help improve the expertise of the prosecutors from the Specialized Prosecution and build the capacity of this newly established body. The first training session was dedicated to the topic “Following the Money: Integrating Financial Crime in the Investigating of Criminal Organizations.” The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rob Livermore, Federal Prosecutor of the US Department of Justice.
