The New Report of the European Commission

The European Commission published the next, tenth report within the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification for Bulgaria and Romania. The document describes the progress made by the two countries in judiciary reform, fight against organized crime and corruption. Bulgarian media are full of criticism: mediapool; "Sеga" daily. EU experts note as a positive step the kick off of the specialized judicature. Their recommendations are primarily aimed at the selection of Supreme Judicial Council and the adoption of the new Law on civil forfeiture. The effectiveness of the judiciary in the combat against corruption and organized crime aslo raises serious doubts.
