At the height of the crisis the European Union is far from the state of sweet dreaming, that marked the Bulgarian accession phase. Following the political failure of the constitutional treaty, that remained unnoticed by the large audience, the failure of the common currency is likely to shake all of us. Why do we actually need a Union, established half a century ago as a prophylaxis against another conflict on the continent? Thoughts like these are provoked by Stefan Popov's article on the risks for the future of united Europe. The pledge of trust and invested resources is too high to be put at stake by the inertia of a lumbering bureaucracy. Bulgarian citizen has long needed a rescue dose of skepticism - Euroskepticism. Let's hope that public speaking and writing will give it to us.
