Organized Crime and the Balkan Political Context

25.01.2009

(2009-2010)
The project consists in an inter-disciplinary study of the inter-dependence between the political environment and organized crime in selected Balkan countries. The purpose of the project is to support the development of effective regional and national policies for organized crime counteraction and control. The principal task is to raise the awareness of the public and the decision-making institutions. The study follows an expressly designed methodology for data collection and assessment. It is intended to build a model explaining the dependence between political systems and processes and organized crime and to popularize the model at the national, regional and international level. The project is implemented by a Balkan network of experts from Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, and Greece.
